Wow..who would though that some applications in your smart phones could save your life?

Well, I only have 'Waktu Solat 2010' application in my old SE K550i. It's really incredible when an application in your smart phone could become a savior to your own life.

I've read wired.com about the story when a man survived the recent Haiti earthquake just because of his Pocket First Aid and CPR application in his iPhone. He uses that application to teach him on how to treat his wound and stops the bleeding he suffers, and even tell him not to fell asleep while waiting for rescue since it could made him unconscious later on that could even invite his death!(read more about the story at http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/01/haiti-survivor-iphone/)

So I think it might be useful to have some vast, good & relevant applications in your smart phones...who knows, it could save your life from dying because you have lost track in the forest for a whole weeks! Turn your smart phone and use GPS to track North (or it would be good if you have the maps of that particular place!) - just make sure your smart phone has enough battery-juice to do so ;p

Smoking in A Non-Smoking Area...

Yesterday I went to Kangar Bus Station, as usual, to buy tickets for my travel to Shah Alam every Thursday nights. I hate a bit the surrounding area due to the carbon dioxide from buses & cabs but it's more hatred for me to those guys who ignores the 'No Smoking' sign paste on the wall.

Do they even know that it's illegal to smoke in a public areas such as bus stops, restaurants, and even shopping malls? What's even more, they smoke just in front of the signage!

So what's the officer do? I though the smokers would be penalize up to RM 10,000 for smoking in the non-smoking areas? Hmmm.....

p/s: found an article about the same issue with non-smoking areas from Utusan Malaysia Online (click here)

"Reasons Why Students Should Blog"..taken from murcha

I found a blog published by this fella, 'murcha' (don't know whether it's his/her nickname or what, assumed because it's from http://murcha.wordpress.com/ ;p)

Quite interesting is that he uses blog as one of the medium for education purposes. Since we here uses e-learning system in UiTM which is so limited and looks quite 'boring', why not use blog instead for education platform? Like 'murcha' has said, there in blog, students or lecturers/teachers could uses widgets, video & such with customized layout to fit the students or class environment & this would some 'fun' element and helps to boost students memory (since color has been proven to helps improving ones memory, e.g. colorful notes vs. black ink notes).

Maybe I should start use blog as one of my media to give lessons for my students, not 100%, but blended with usual face-to-face class routine and e-learning.

Here's the link to his/her post: 20 reasons why students should blog

LinkedIn - A Professional Online Comunity

Before I went to sleep, I realized that there is a symbol of blue square with word 'in' embedded inside in my Yoono sidebar.

Upon clicking, it redirect me to www.linkedin.com, and I found that at first this might be the same online community website such as Friendster, Facebook, MySpace & such...but actually, it's more than ordinary online community website - it's an online community website for professionals such as scholars, consultant & etc! (& this include students!)

So I do hope that someday I would join LinkedIn and expand my links with others since I found that several lecturers that I've known either from UTP or UiTM are in there. I heard from my colleagues that they even can connect with each other around the world for conferences & discuss certain topics online!

I wonder whether a Jr. Lecturer like me - a SMALL me - can even discuss any SCOPUS level topic in there since everyone there is all well known in their relative field! *gasp*

Might take 2-3 years later from now to enter that online community since I don't have any idea what kind of research I would like to involve in future...yet!

Proton Exora....

The photo above is not an ordinary Exora, it's actually a concept car by Proton, Exora Prime. Quite exclusive when I look at it. Anyway, when they mention they only develop the Exora for 18 months with all the local engineers and such, with only 1.6 liters power plant, and this huge body, I do have a little doubt on the ability of Exora. Furthermore, when all the high-tech stuffs and electronics are fitted into this Exora, I felt that there is a chance for the same problem to occur like the previous Proton Waja.

It's just my hunch for now anyway, hope that Proton themselves would make a lot of improvements in their models.

Anyway, talking about Proton, my BLM will be ready this Friday (17/4/09) and I'm going back to Ipoh to take it, lol. Despite some minor complaints reported un-officially in the internet, I still take the risk as my first car, hope that there would be no major problem with my BLM, zzzz.

Mine are 1.3MT full-spec solid white, lol. (^^)v
